At its annual scientific meeting in Dresden, the German Society for Medical Physics (DGMP) again honored two medical physicists for their outstanding achievements in the field of dosimetry and medical physics.

The DGMP Master's Thesis Award 2017 endowed by PTW went to Andreas Rinscheid for his impressive work entitled "Steps towards the clinical implementation of a digital spectrometer system for range verification in proton therapy." In his master's thesis, Mr. Rinscheid examined a detection system for range verification of proton beams using the PGT method (Prompt Gamma Timing) and tested the use of this measuring system under clinical conditions.

The PTW Poster Prize was awarded to Malte Gotz for his excellent poster contribution "Saturation Correction in Pulsed Fields of High Dose-Per-Pulse", in which he presented a method based on numerical approximation for a more precise calculation of the saturation correction in pulsed radiation fields with a high dose per pulse.

We would like to extend our hearty congratulations to Mr. Rinscheid and Mr. Gotz for their awards and wish them all the best and every success in their future careers.

The prizes endowed by PTW have been awarded annually by the DGMP since 2016 and are officially presented during the DGMP annual meeting. They are respectively endowed with 1,000 and 500 euros. The objective of both awards is to distinguish outstanding achievements in the field of medical radiation physics and promote scientific commitment.
